Behind the Scenes: a PROPOSAL!

A Proposal!

This weekend was ONE year since two of our best friends got engaged and I was lucky enough to be a part of my first proposal! When Randy mentioned that he thought it’d be cool to get it on camera we all dove right into planning the perfect way to do it. Once Randy decided on the location, the lot in which they’re building their first home, planning was in order. A few trips to Home Depot, one night of setting up lights and testing with a few fake proposals.

The words “marry me” were spelt out in Christmas lights, and covered up with lights strands draped over it all to mask any signs of what had been written.  The two different set ups were put on different switches which allowed us to keep the words off until we were ready for them to show.

Despite what everyone may think, I actually really never have my camera with me. Especially when it’s just friends and family hanging out. I think it’s part that I associate it with work, part that I invested way too much money in my equipment and worry about setting it down. Actually, it’s probably just me trying to be 100% present. With that being said, tricking Colleen into thinking I had a photo idea I wanted them to model for was just as awkward as you’d imagine. We made it happen and it turned out just as beautiful as we had hoped for! We all watched in tears and couldn’t of been more excited for the two of them. Now the countdown is on. I get to celebrate with them in just FIVE months in Punta Cana as they become Mr and Mrs!

Thinking of having your “get down on one knee” moment documented, I’d love to be a part of it. Shoot me a message – I want to hear all about how you’ll ask!
