There’s something special about a January wedding – it helps break up the post-holiday lull. It gives your guests something fun to look forward to in the gray, cold days of winter, when summer seems like a distant memory. Even though I’m a sun chaser and summer lover, I LOVE getting to shoot weddings in the off-season – it gives me something to look forward to, too!
I was really excited to shoot Julia and Daren’s beautiful winter wedding. I had photographed Julia’s brother’s wedding a few years ago, and I have to admit – I love when past clients’ family members and friends hire me. I get to know my couples and their families so well over the course of a wedding day that getting to go back and shoot them again is like seeing old friends.
Julia and Daren met in high school, but sparks didn’t start flying until years later when they reconnected at the gym. Their chemistry is undeniable: they were making each other laugh and smile all evening, even during the vows! From the time I met with them for their stunning springtime engagement shoot, I knew that this would be a wedding day full of love and laughter.
Their winter wedding at The Inn at Fox Hollow was beautiful. Both bride and groom got ready at the venue, which allowed for a more relaxed day – no traffic jams to worry about! Even a little January rain didn’t dull the mood – in fact, I got some gorgeous pictures of them just as it started to softly drizzle.
One of my favorite things about this wedding was how their details showcased their personalities, from Julia’s AMAZING sparkly pink reception sneakers to Daren’s bright red socks. I love capturing those little detail shots on a wedding day.
Congratulations again, Julia + Daren!
