Prosser Pines in Middle Island is one of my favorite spots for engagement shoots. I love the magical light it gets in the summer – click here to see a summer engagement shoot there – but it’s especially gorgeous in the winter, as Tara + Nick’s stunning engagement session can attest.
Why do I love this site so much? It feels otherwordly, like you’re in a fairytale forest. You’d never guess that this magical spot is tucked into a suburb on Long Island! The towering pine trees are an amazing backdrop, and they perfectly filter the golden hour light to give an ethereal feel to each shoot. There are a ton of amazing natural little nooks for unique shots, from fallen logs to patches of lush green moss.
Tara + Nick were game for everything, from walking through the moss to braving the freezing weather! I love this adorable couple. You get such a feel for their fun relationship in these shots – Tara could not stop laughing all day! Sometimes getting in front of a camera can be awkward for couples, but having a bride & groom who are making each other laugh all day long makes for such natural, real photos.
Tara + Nick have a super cute love story and one of the sweetest proposals I’ve ever heard about. He proposed on Christmas with an elaborate “box within a box” plan – starting with a picture of their son, then a Christmas ornament, finally ending with Tara’s gorgeous ring! They’re planning a Christmas wedding, so their green and red sweaters were perfect for this shoot. I can’t wait to shoot their gorgeous wedding later this year!
