I don’t know what it is about rainy wedding days, but over the past few years, I have grown to absolutely adore them. Maybe it’s the overcast sky that makes everything feel so cozy, or the therapeutic sound of rain falling on the roof above, but those rainy days when two people in love say I do have become my favorite thing ever.

Of course, for most brides and grooms, rain feels like the worst thing that could ever happen! Your plans for an outdoor ceremony seem to evaporate in the blink of an eye, and all the atmosphere you’ve dreamed up begins to dissipate. But you’d never imagine how dynamic an element it is on your day  – one that can’t be manufactured or dreamed up. It seems to make things a thousand times more beautiful, even if you can’t imagine it doing so. Clear umbrellas and laughter and perfect light. What could be better!?

Amanda + Josh were so completely unfazed by the on-again-off-again rain they had at their East Wind affair that it was simple to create some magical rainy day portraits (one’s that will forever be some of my favorites!). The incredibly romantic electricity that sparked between these two could have rivaled any bolt of lightening, and the way they looked at each other could have made the skies clear instantly. I couldn’t believe how Amanda + Josh glowed when they were together – I swear, I could see the beams of light shooting off of them each time they looked into each others eyes! They were a perfect example of how to soak in all the moments of your wedding day, and I could see that, truly, every second they were together was magic.

I couldn’t be happier to show you every gorgeous inch of Amanda + Josh’s nautical themed wedding, and I can’t stress enough how perfect everything was (despite the rain!). Congratulations to Amanda + Josh! I wish you many years of wedded bliss!
