If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m a big fan of shoot locales with a range of different settings for photos. I love being able to go from forest to beach, beach to bay, Main Street to beach (Wow, I guess my clients like the beach? Ha!) in one day and one place. It’s so much better than shooting in one spot and having to jump in our respective cars to chase the golden hour light to another!
Wildwood State Park in Wading River is such a good spot for hiking, picnics, and of course, engagement shoots. Bonnie and Tom got engaged just down the beach from where we shot, so it was super special for them.
If you’ve never been to Wildwood – GO! It’s magical- and a gem that a lot of locals sometimes overlook, I know I did!
You walk through the woods, heading higher and higher up the bluff. Then, peeking through the trees, you see it: an incredible view of Long Island Sound, stretching far into the horizon. The beach at Wildwood is almost always quiet and mostly empty, perfect for a proposal (good thinking, Tom!).
We got to the entrance of the trails just as the afternoon light began streaming through the trees. By the time we hit the beach, it was peak golden hour! I was able to capture some incredible shots of Bonnie and Tom strolling down the beach right at sunset.
It was a perfect day for the sweetest couple!
