Romantic Jedediah Hawkins House Inn, Riverhead, New York Wedding
Ever since shooting weddings became my main focus I’ve dreamt of having a blog just like this one to showcase all of the heart and soul I put into every single wedding day. It’s hard to sum up a 10-12 hour wedding day with just one or two photos on social media, but this here is the a place where I can REALLY share the stories I am lucky enough to be a part of.
It was hard for me to jump into the wedding blog scene at the end of the wire for my 2016 wedding season. How could I not have shown ALL the beautiful weddings I had this year? Last year? The past five years in general? But here I am, taking a dive, even if it’s the end of the season! Jacqui and Greg’s gorgeous wedding felt like the perfect kick off. Seriously, how beautiful are these two?
No one could say it better than my girl Jenny from Wildflower Floral Events when she said, “There was nothing gloomy about this rainy wedding day!” It’s true. This venue really is so beautiful. All of it’s rooms, it’s little quirks, the vintage feel, all of it’s authentic history and the rustic accents. We took advantage of all it had to offer- the girls got ready in the solarium, the dress got hung at the tippy top room of the house beside a telescope, the first look we hid on the beautiful front porch to shelter us from the rain, the barn out back to celebrate their ceremony, we even soaked in the little peaks of sunlight and all the natural light the day had to offer with formal photos inside the solarium without worrying about getting wet, too. Jacqui and Greg were glowing the entire day. I bet there isn’t a single person who was there that day who can’t agree with that statement. Being a part of a first look is always a treat, because it really is such an intimate part of the day. If there was any time during their wedding that made me realize how in love these two are it was right then- oh man, what a crazy beautiful moment.
Aside from being head over heels for each other- these two killed it on the dance floor. Beyond a beautiful location, a fun couple and amazing little details- a great party really makes for some of the BEST photos. Jacqui and Greg were on the dance floor the entire night beside all their friends and family. I can go on and on about how awesome these two are, how perfect their day was and how much I loved it all- but I think these photos can speak for themselves. So happy to finish up all of these wedding photos today, right in time as their honeymoon through South Africa finishes up (yeah- how incredible is that?!)
Happy first wedding blog post to me! A big thanks to my awesome second shooter, Alex, for being my second pair of eyes, too!
