The amazing thing about being a wedding photographer on Long Island’s east end? There are endless dreamy spots for engagement shoots.
The bad thing about it? It’s literally IMPOSSIBLE to choose my favorite!
Sometimes clients want the vibe of more than one location or background for their engagement shoots, and I’m always hunting out locales where we can change things up without traveling too far. I’ve come to fall in love with Main Street engagement shoots that take place in some of Long Island’s most charming villages and downtowns (peep a Main Street Greenport shoot here!).
Kerri + Jack are the cutest couple ever. Seriously – just look at these photos. They knew each other for years, but didn’t start talking until a few years ago on Cinco de Mayo (I’m trying so hard not to make a cheesy “Taco ‘Bout True Love” pun here. Trying and failing). Jack proposed on Christmas, and they’re in the middle of planning a 2019 wedding. I love clients who are so organized and book me early!
I LOVED this location because it was like five locations in one – without having to drive all over Long Island. Where else but Port Jeff can you get a beach vibe, a garden vibe, and a cool Brooklyn vibe all in one?
- The beach – obviously! I got some great shots of them under the pier and twirling on the sand.
- The side streets – I’ve seen a zillion engagement shoots on the streets of Brooklyn, with the cobblestone streets and red brick walls. I loved how we were able to capture that vibe by finding interesting buildings on Port Jeff’s funky East Main Street.
- Under the cherry trees – I was so excited that this shoot took place when the cherry blossom trees had bloomed. The ground was covered with perfect pink petals, and with the white picket fences of Port Jeff’s historic Victorians, I kind of felt like we were in Nantucket or something.
Kerri + Jack also did an outfit change, which gave a whole new element to the later photos. In one shoot, they got a ton of different backdrops as well as shots of them in more dressy outfits AND more casual ones.
I can’t wait for their gorgeous wedding next year!
