Wedding season has been so crazy lately, and sometimes, during my busiest months, it’s easy to feel like I’m doing the same thing over and over again. Lucky for me, I have the most incredible couples who constantly keep me on my toes, and inspire me to dare to be different in any way I possibly can.
In general, I am always looking for locations that strike me; ones that add just the right amount of wonder to my lifestyle, engagement, and maternity sessions, but still pull focus to the beautiful couples I’m photographing. It’s an incredible thing, what a location can do for you. It turns your ordinary photoshoot into the most magical experience, and gives you some dreamy images to cherish for the rest of your life.
Samantha + Nick’s South Fork session at the Morton Wildlife Refuge was just that – an absolute dream. The South Fork is such an amazing place, and the romantic + old world settings it offers are plentiful! The ethereal backgrounds the Refuge boasted seemed to be straight out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald masterpiece, and every inch truly was breathtaking. I found myself totally immersed in the beautiful light streaming through the lush trees, wondering how easy it would be to get lost in the forest, with only the sound of the crashing waves in the distance. But really, what was most awe-inspiring, was the way Samantha + Nick melted into each other so seamlessly, as if I wasn’t even there. Their playfulness wasn’t forced at all, it was just who they were! I absolutely love working with couples like this, because it makes it easy for me to take a step back and take it all in, allowing me to focus on doing their beautiful love justice. Some of my favorite photographs come from the times when you’ve forgotten I’m there, and you find yourself reveling in that engagement bliss we all love so much. It’s an amazing thing to get to witness!
But enough about me and how much I LOVE these two. Take a peek at their stunning session below, and see for yourself!
